Miami-Dade approves renaming Palm Avenue after “President Donald J. Trump”

MIAMI, United States. – The Miami-Dade County Commission approved the proposal to rename Palm Avenue as President Donald J. Trump Avenue, “in honor of the legacy of the 45th and 47th president of the United States,” reported this Tuesday the mayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo.

The official thanked the commissioners who supported the initiative, especially Kevin Cabrera, who led the effort, and JC Bermudez, René García and Robert González for their support as co-sponsors. “We appreciate the joint effort with the county and we look forward to the president’s visit for the official inauguration,” said Bovo.

For his part, Commissioner Kevin Cabrera stressed why he thought the renomination was important: “President Trump exemplifies true public service. Renaming Palm Avenue forever immortalizes its legacy. Future generations who walk down this avenue will remember his fight for the principles of freedom, prosperity and opportunity.”

Plans to rename Palm Avenue President Donald J. Trump Avenue began to take shape in November 2023, when Hialeah City Council members voted in favor of the proposal.

Just a few days earlier, Bovo had announced the project to rename Palm Avenue during a political rally that Trump gave in the city.

According to the EFE agencyIn June 2022, the Historic Preservation Board of the City of Hialeah recommended not changing the name of the aforementioned public road.

Located in Miami-Dade County and with a majority Cuban population, in the 2010 Census Hialeah had a population of 224,669 inhabitants.
