The federal government is looking for a law so that the clock no longer has to be advanced one hour and thus maintain winter time. For analysts consulted by Expansión, the measure would not radically impact the operations that are carried out, although the ideal is that both markets operate at par.
The Monex board pointed out that maintaining winter time will not change its current dynamics much, since they review the closure of the Asian and European markets beforehand.
Opening and closing of markets
In markets that do not close, such as the foreign exchange market, Quiroz commented that movements are usually observed as soon as the market opens in the United States and Mexico.
Although the US market may open earlier, it would force market analysts to wake up earlier but it would not be something “extraordinary”. Quiroz considered relevant that both markets are coordinated because in case there is a data or event that causes a lot of volatility, Mexican investors will not be able to execute movements if the market is closed.
“In the United States they unified summer time, so from a financial point of view it would be good to have the same time,” said economist Gabriela Siller, director of financial economic analysis at Banco Base.
In the case of traders or operators in the stock market, the change in hours will only mean the earlier closing of some operations.
Even if there were to be an outlier that moved the markets, there would be no significant changes. “In the end, everything is in the time of the market lapse. It would affect them the same as always,” said Cipactli Jiménez, an independent trader.
