Raquel Buenrostro explained at a press conference that these declines are part of the government’s actions to contain the inflation seen in the world, caused mainly by the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The official anticipated that for the entire year 2022, a loss in the IEPS collection automotive for 200,000 million pesos. Meanwhile, due to the additional incentives given to importers and refiners through verification of VAT and ISR, the cost is estimated at 13,000 million pesos per month.

In total terms, tax collection grew 2% in real terms per year, adding up to 1,120 billion pesos; 96,907 million pesos more than in the first quarter of last year. ISR grew 13.8% real annually, while VAT fell 43% real annually.
Buenrostro explained that the decrease in VAT is due to the refunds of this tax that were made in March to legal entities for the presentation of the annual declaration. He considered that at the end of the year, the collection goal will not be reached due to the economic situation affected by the war in Ukraine, but the amount collected will be greater than last year.
