He reported that in today’s meeting with Tai, the proposal to establish trinational working groups was raised, which would meet during December and early January to discuss different aspects of energy consultations.
If this plan is satisfactorily fulfilled, the progress could be presented at the North American Leaders Summit to be held in our country on January 9 and 10, 2023.

At the meeting, the Secretary for the Economy stated that in this new stage they are working closely with the national energy sector, led by Secretary Rocío Nahle, who has played a prominent role in building precise, forceful and mutually satisfactory solutions that the couple safeguard national sovereignty.
Secretary Raquel Buenrostro shared with Ambassador Tai, Mexico’s willingness to simultaneously attend to all the aspects that make up the consultations, prioritizing those in which the solution can be found more quickly, in order to demonstrate that through the dialogue can get results.
He stressed that the Mexican government seeks to reconcile differences in the consultation phase, without the need to reach an arbitration panel and guaranteeing national sovereignty.
The Secretary of Economy informed Ambassador Tai about the meeting of the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States with the President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador on biotechnology, informing that in the next few days there will be a mission from Mexico made up of the secretariats of Agriculture, Economy, Environment, together with Cofepris, with the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States, noting that the Mexican Foreign Ministry is managing the meeting.
