He pointed out that this volume is “similar” to what was exported in 2024, although there is a reduction, because last year it was around 130,000 tons.
“The export of 110,00 tons of avocado is a reflection of the hard work, adaptation and dedication of thousands of Mexicans, including producers, packers, agronomists, field technicians, supervisors, fruit selectors, among others,” indicated APEAM.
He highlighted that Michoacán and Jalisco are the only ones authorized to ship Mexican avocados to the United States.
He added that this sporting event has an impact on the Mexican and American economy, and that the process is carried out under the strictest phytosanitary, safety and quality measures, with Mexico being the leader in avocado production worldwide.
The United States is the main consumer of avocado, with a per capita consumption of 4.1 kilograms, but avocados from Mexico are exported to more than 34 countries in the world.
Data from the Ministry of Economy indicate that the countries with the most international purchases from Mexico are the United States (2,629 million dollars), Canada (200 million), Japan (104 million), Spain (102 million) and El Salvador (28.8 million).
