In contrast, food insecurity has decreased in the country, that is, the proportion of people who face hunger, go days without eating at some time of the year or do not have continuous access to food and a quality diet.
According to the study, 24.9% of the Mexican population did not have access to quality food between 2014 and 2016, and the proportion decreased to 20.7% from 2021 to 2023.
The report states that all countries in the world have stagnated in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals and targets to end hunger and malnutrition, which include reducing undernutrition, moderate or severe food insecurity, overweight and obesity, low birth weight, and increasing exclusive breastfeeding.
