Cuba received this Friday by air from Mexico to a new group of 28 irregular migrantswhich brings to 1657 the number of people returned to the Island from that country by virtue of the migratory agreements between both nations.
The returnees arrived at the José Martí international airport in Havana, in order to carry out the 33rd operation of this type, according to an office from the agency Latin Press (PL).
It adds the information that upon arrival in the Cuban capital, the irregular migrants received medical care, food and then received facilities to be transferred to their provinces of residence.
The Mexican territory has been used, especially during the last year, as a way to enter the United States, through the border shared by both countries.
According to the agency, on the same day the United States Coast Guard returned 38 Cubans through the Orozco port, in the western province of Artemisa, bringing the number of people returned this year by sea to more than 4,000. 73 operations carried out.

In addition, according to the publication, on this day a flight from the Bahamas was expected with 27 irregular migrants, so the number of Cuban returnees from that Caribbean nation would rise to 312 in 2022.
According to the Cuban authorities, cited by PLTo date, 125 operations have been carried out by air and sea, in which 5,993 irregular migrants have been returned to the Island.
The number of Cubans leaving the country by irregular means has been constantly growing in recent months, at a time when the Island is going through a severe economic crisis exacerbated by the impact of the pandemic, US sanctions and internal difficulties and inefficiencies. .
According to recent statistics from the US Department of Customs and Border Protection, so far this fiscal year, from October 2021 to the end of July, more than 170,000 Cubans have entered US territory, a figure that exceeds the records of the exodus of Marie, in 1980, and the so-called crisis of the rafters in the middle of the following decade.
