Mexico stated yesterday at the United Nations Security Council its opposition to any attack on medical, scientific or assistance facilities in Ukraine and made an urgent call for a ceasefire.
The permanent representative of Mexico to the UN, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, explained in a session of the organization the urgency of establishing a sustainable humanitarian pause that guarantees the protection of the civilian population affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and access to aid humanitarian assistance to those who need it, without restrictions or exclusions, according to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Before the Security Council – of which Mexico is a non-permanent member – he stated that the World Health Organization is not aware of any activity by the Ukrainian government contrary to its obligations under the Biological Weapons Treaty, which has been reiterated by the representative for UN disarmament issues.
He added that Mexico is committed to complying with the convention that prohibits the development, production and storage of bacteriological and chemical weapons, and rejects any attack against medical, scientific or assistance facilities in Ukraine.
war witness
When in 2020, recently ordained priest, Agustín Gómez, originally from Guanajuato, was sent to Poland to work with young people in Krakow, he did not imagine that he would witness the ravages caused by a war.
Since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out, every day the Legionary of Christ priest supports people fleeing the conflict. The 33-year-old cleric narrates through videos that his religious order in that country is working hard for refugees
. He admits that he is shocked to see what causes the war. It is an exodus, and it is very strong to see mothers who only bring their young children and left their partners or male relatives over 18 years of age in Ukraine

the embassy of that country in Mexico called for a demonstration against the Russian invasion of its territory.
The protest will take place tomorrow at one in the afternoon at the entrance of the Museum of Memory and Tolerance, in Mexico City.
