So far, the closure or evacuation of the Mexican embassy in Ukraine is not planned, the foreign minister reported.
Ebrard met tonight with the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Senate and the presidents of the Foreign Relations Committees, to discuss the conflict unleashed between Russia and Ukraine, its impact on Mexico, among other issues.
He explained the steps taken to protect the nationals who resided in Ukraine and who asked for support to leave. In total there are 19 Mexicans who were taken to the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, located on the border of Poland, Hungary and Romania, 514 kilometers from Kiev, he explained.
México rechaza el uso de la fuerza, reitera su llamado a una salida política al conflicto en Ucrania y respalda al Secretario General de la ONU en pro de la paz. Trabajamos con otros países para encontrar un espacio de diálogo.

The foreign minister reported that he had already instructed Ambassador Olga García Guillén to talk with each of them to “know their particular situation regarding the interest in extending their stay”, beyond February 26, the date on which their return to Kiev.
If necessary, arrangements will be made for them to be repatriated to Mexico, “in the event that a military conflict breaks out.”
At the end of the meeting, at the Senate headquarters, the president of the Jucopo, Ricardo Monreal, from Morena, reported that the chancellor “raised the probable repercussions (of an armed conflict), the most serious economic ones, the increase in oil, shortages in some places, energy and the economic situation. But he estimates that there will be no armed conflict, no invasion.”
