Mexico denies rumors about free visas for Cubans

The Consulate of Mexico In Havana he denied that free visas will be granted to Cubans to travel to their country.

The official denial comes in response to information that has been circulated on social networks according to which the Mexican authorities would apply free visas to Cuban citizens as a “special humanitarian mechanism.”

Through its account in X, the consular office assured that the above “is false.”

“There is no change in the requirements or procedures for obtaining a Mexican visa,” the diplomatic entity noted.

Likewise, the Consulate of Mexico made a specific call to the population of the island. “Don’t be fooled,” says one of the messages in a thread published about it categorically.

“In the face of the humanitarian crisis”

The information released in recent days in Facebook groups claimed that in the face of “the humanitarian crisis that the people of Cuba are experiencing” the Mexican Government was considering implementing the visa-free mechanism for Cuban citizens.

According to these publications, the proposal contemplated the delivery of “humanitarian cards” that would allow residents on the island to live, work and undertake projects temporarily in the neighboring nation.

Finally, according to the denial, this is a new case of false information regarding the procedures for obtaining a visa to Mexico for Cubans, who seek to confuse, promote scams or sell appointments or visas fraudulently.

In light of this type of events, the diplomatic headquarters reiterates that “the official and valid information on consular procedures is published only in the official sites and accounts of the government of Mexico.”

Currently, to travel to that country, Cubans need a consular visa, which must be processed directly at the Consulate in Havana. To do this, you must make an appointment in advance and present the documents required by the Mexican authorities.
