In a virtual session on the evening of August 2, the collegiate body submitted to the plenary 18 challenges raised by current deputies and parties such as PAN, PRI, PRD and Movimiento Ciudadano against the agreement approved by the IECM on June 9 by which seven elected deputies of Morena requested to change parties to the PVEM and PT.
This modification caused significant changes in the distribution of plurinominal seats for the capital Congress, granting more plurinominal seats to Morena.
Among those who challenged the IECM agreement are: the PRI members: Jonathan Colmenares, Fausto Manuel Zamorano, Mariana Moguel and Ernesto AlarconThe latter is the current coordinator of the tricolor bench in the Congress of Mexico City, who competed in the polls for district 33 in Magdalena Contreras, but lost to Morena.
The current president of the board of directors of the capital’s Congress, the PAN member, also fought for her plurinominal space Gabriela Salidowhose modification of the agreement left her out of the third legislature.
The Electoral Court of Mexico City decided to accumulate the 18 challenges filed against the IECM agreement on the distribution of plurinominal seats, as they have the same purpose, and to present them to the plenary in a single project to be discussed.
“It is proposed to classify as inoperative the grievances that point to irregularities in the development of the session (of the IECM) in which the contested act was approved by virtue of the fact that the arguments of the plaintiff are generic and ambiguous, given that they do not require concrete arguments, nor do they contain logical-legal reasoning that allows them to oppose the responsible authority,” said Elizabeth Valderrama, general secretary of the TECDMX when presenting the project.
The project under discussion was voted against by magistrates Maria Antonieta González and Juan Carlos Sánchez Leon and in favor by magistrate Armando Ambriz and Osiris Vázquez Rangel, but as a tie arose, the presiding magistrate Armando Ambriz granted a casting vote, thus ratifying the distribution of plurinominal seats made by the IECM.
