They will implement operations to detect unnecessary requests
Andrés Ramírez criticized that there are migrants who have seen a “travel agency” in the Comar, for which they request their asylum status to remain in Mexico, but – he warns – their intention is not to stay in the country.
“Placing Comar as a travel agency and therefore we issue documents for people to travel is not only false, but puts the asylum system itself in check,” he said.
For this reason, he announced that they will implement actions in Chiapas that allow them to identify which requests are unnecessary.
“It is about expediting the refusal and discouraging people who are not refugees from continuing to come to the Comar to be able to pass, because the mere fact of being a Comar applicant already protects you. The person cannot be deported to the country of origin, the fact of being an applicant will give access to various public services ”, she highlighted.
The operations will be carried out in conjunction with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), since some of those who have requested asylum actually intend to reach the United States: “There are people who arrive and tell us ‘what I want is to arrive To united states’. And our job is to see if there is a risk of returning to the country of origin, ”he said.
