President Claudia Sheinbaum warned that if the American Senate approves the declaration of terrorist organizations to drug traffickers, will have implications in the demand that Mexico has against producers and distributors of arms, reported the Mexican newspaper La Jornada.
During the press conference of each morning, the dignitary indicated this Friday that if this terrorist qualification by Washington is appropriate to Mexican criminal groups, then the armor and distributors of arms could be considered involved in these organizations.
United States weapons
The weapons that come from the United States are decisive in the black market of arms in Mexico, where between 70 % and 90 % of weapons in the Latin American country come from US armor.
This situation is due, in part, to the great availability of weapons in the United States, where there are more than 75 thousand stores that distribute them, in contrast to Mexico, which has only one store in charge of the army.
Similarly, in reference the increase in US flights for intelligence purposes, the president considered that they are being carried out on legal margins.
The important thing, he emphasized, is that for Mexico “sovereignty is not negotiable.”
This Friday the Security Cabinet of Mexico announced that it arrested 412 people and confiscated 384 firearms in eight days of the so -called Northern Border Operation in the Limy Strip with the United States.
Drug seizures
An informative card of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection said that the authorities also seized 837.98 kilos of marijuana, 442.32 kilos of cocaine, 4.9 tons of methamphetamine, 0.24 kilograms of heroin, 9.78 kilograms of the Fentanyl synthetic opioid, 330 vehicles and 41 properties.
On February 4 Sheinbaum announced the beginning of the operation to reinforce security on the northern border of the country after the agreement reached a day before with its counterpart Donald Trump, to deploy 10 thousand guards to contain the traffic of drugs and undocumented migrants .
The operations cover the states of Baja California, Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora and Tamaulipas, border with the United States.
In Sinaloa, three clandestine laboratories were dismantled, used for the manufacture of synthetic drugs, in which 3 thousand kilos of “finished product” and 23 thousand 700 liters of liquid chemicals used for drug manufacturing were found.
On the other hand, Claudia Sheinbaum sent a letter to her status counterpart to explain the status in which bilateral trade is found regarding steel and aluminum where the balance is overravitary for the United States.
Tariffs and deportations
The president deflated Trump’s thesis, because in the case of aluminum and steel United States exports more than matters for what she considered that tariffs on Mexican exports are not applicable.

On the other hand, referring to the recognition of the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, about the greatest immigration control in Mexico, said that the United States has made agreements with several Central American countries for deportations of migrants from those nations through direct flights.
He explained that most of the migrants who have been deported since Trump’s arrival at the White House are Mexican. So far 13,455 people have been deported, of which 10,485 are Mexican and 2,970 foreigners.
