The representatives of Mexico Y Brazil advocated in favor of former coup president Pedro Castillo during his speech this Wednesday at the meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), where the member countries analyzed the crisis that Peru is going through.
Ambassador Otávio Brandelli, permanent representative of Brazil, expressed his country’s concern about the situation of the former Peruvian president, who tried to carry out a coup on December 7 and who remains in pretrial detention for 18 months.
“We are concerned about the situation of former President Pedro Castillo and his preventive detention for a long period of time, we believe that it is important that the Peruvian authorities consider alternatives to restore his freedom unconditionally,” Brandelli asserted.
