This Saturday, Marcelo Ebrard, former foreign minister of Mexico, and Claudia Sheinbaum, virtual president-elect, had a disagreement with the US presidential candidate Donald Trump, since in a campaign speech he spoke about the negotiation of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada during his administration.
“They gave us everything, I won, I got everything from Mexico,” Trump said, adding: “So this stupid person with a low IQ, I guarantee you it’s the lowest IQ, 50 to 60, and he’s negotiating with Putin, President Xi of China, Macron of France.”
This led to the interpretation that Trump was insulting former Foreign Minister Ebrard, however in the continuation of his speech it is understood that he was referring to Biden.
Marcelo Ebrard spoke out against Biden’s resignation as a presidential candidate. “The value of integrity must always be recognized, even more so when one’s own political destiny is at stake. My respects,” the future Secretary of Economy posted on his X account.

Ricardo Monreal, senator and future leader of Morena, also acknowledged Biden’s decision.
“It takes maturity, honor and a broad vision to make a decision like that of President Joe Biden, whose treatment of Mexico has always been one of respect, esteem and friendship. Whoever replaces him on the Democratic ticket should have the same vision of our bilateral relationship,” Monreal shared.

Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, acknowledged Biden’s track record.
“President Biden is a true portrait of courage. His life of service is born of great sacrifices and commitments to serve the American people and the best of humanity. He has worked throughout his career to ensure that no one is left behind, that we build bridges around the world, and that we remain optimistic about the possibilities of our future. I am grateful for his friendship and leadership,” he said in a statement.
