“What a crazy day it was, coming face to face with the God Popocatépetl, Mexico,” Liam says of climbing the volcano.
The young man has climbed the main mountains of Mexico, including Pico de Orizaba and Iztaccíhuatl. It has also reached the summit of volcanoes abroad.
According to the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred), the Popocatépetl volcanic alert traffic light is in Yellow Phase 2.
Cenapred urges the population to respect the exclusion radius of 12 kilometers from the crater, otherwise there would be danger from the fall of incandescent material.
In recent years, Puebla authorities have discussed possible sanctions for those who enter the exclusion radius of Popocatépetl, however, they have not finalized any regulations.
At the end of 2024, 30 years will have passed since the Popocatépetl volcano began its continuous activity.
