Mexican IP asks for a greater boost to real estate development

The State of Mexico needs to generate a new strategy focused on promoting real estate development, this to further reactivate the local economy and to meet the demand for workers who can access housing loans.

Derived from the meeting of the Regional Consultative Commission of the Institute of the National Fund for Workers (Infonavit), the president of the state Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Laura González Hernández, said that since before the pandemic, the construction industry had already brought a drop in its growth, which worsened during the health contingency.

Pointing out that although local strategies have been carried out, he stressed that more alternatives and government programs need to be sought to promote the dynamism of the private sector construction industry.

“The players in this industry are always willing to contribute to the growth of the state. The political will at all levels of government would pay to streamline procedures, permits and provide services to residential areas with development potential, “said the Mexican CCE.

The business leader stressed that the emerging actions in favor of this economic branch of the entity will also help to comply with the workers’ right of access to housing.

Precisely, there are around 1.6 million Mexican workers without housing, but with the possibility of applying for credit.

It has also been identified that there are 710,000 pre-approved loans that are not certain of a home due to availability problems.

“In the State of Mexico there is space and also the largest number of construction companies in the country, but the supply of housing is well below the demand,” said Laura González.

The head of Infonavit, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, reported that he will dialogue with the Institute of the Registry Function of the State of Mexico (IFREM) and with notaries of the entity to carry out the deed of 7,000 homes that are lagging in the matter.

Also, it was agreed to bring information on Infonavit services and benefits to the largest number of companies located in the Mexican territory, with the aim of informing workers of their benefits and promoting the formality of companies.

“They must be given all the legal certainty for the acquisition of their homes and for this the tripartite dialogue between the government, workers and Private Initiative must be kept very active. We do not want delays of any kind in this sector that is the engine of the economy,” Laura González Hernández pointed out.
