Mexican consumer confidence improves in March

Compared to February 2021, the indicator increased 3 points, according to the Inegi, to place itself at the best level so far in 2022, with 43.9 points.

Those surveyed by Inegi said they had an improvement in the current economic situation of household members compared to what they had 12 months ago, since this component advanced 1 monthly point in March.

In addition, Mexicans perceive better possibilities to make purchases of durable goods for the home, compared to those who had a year; this component advanced 1.4 monthly points in March.

However, there was a setback in the perception of the country’s economic situation expected within 12 months, compared to the current one, as this indicator fell 0.6 monthly points and 2.7 points compared to March 2021.

Within the complementary indicators, an advance of 1.8 monthly points was observed in the consumer’s intentions to build, buy or remodel their home in the next two years.
