Authorities in the Metropolitan Health Region are reinforcing strategies against dengue and are urging the general population to eliminate breeding grounds to prevent the number of cases from continuing to increase.
In comparative data from the regional epidemiological report in 2023, a total of 553 confirmed cases of dengue were reported, while in the same epidemiological week for 2024, a total of 3,184 confirmed cases and 4 deaths were reported from the towns of Betania, Curundú, Pedregal and December 24.
Given the epidemiological situation, the inter-institutional and inter-sectoral strategy is applied (Executive Decree No. 526, which modifies Executive Decree No. 180 of June 8, 2018, which creates the national inter-sectoral and inter-institutional commission for integrated management strategy against Aedes and other vectors that affect public health) through preventive and promotional measures in communities where dengue cases remain high.
This Thursday, August 8, the intersectoral and interinstitutional team will carry out a mega operation against dengue in the Las Garzas district, so the population is reiterated to allow the teams to carry out inspections, garbage collection and elimination of breeding sites in their residences, commercial premises, among others.
It is recommended to remove vases, bottles, cans, lids, unused tires, among other objects that accumulate water and, if there are spare containers, keep them well covered, clean and free of breeding sites to prevent the evolutionary process of the Aedes Aegipty mosquito.
