Through a statement, the Metro explained that the object found on the tracks of Line 3 is called “autopilot sensor”belonging to a high frequency and elementary system to have a correct movement of the trains and communication with security systems.
When following up on the incidents that occurred after January 7 -the date on which the train crash occurred on Line 3-, specialists from this transport system reported that the captor corresponds to a train that was withdrawn from circulation on Friday for the morning, due to failures in the automatic piloting.
When the train was checked, cracks were found, probably caused by a blow unrelated to the operation itselfTherefore, Metro personnel submitted a report to the local Prosecutor’s Office for the demarcation of responsibilities.
“The legal area of the Metro gave notice to the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office, for the initiation of the corresponding investigation folder. Objects on the tracks, especially of a metallic type, represent possible damage to the tracks or train equipment,” the statement read.
This complaint is added to the four filed by the organization before the ministerial authority for atypical events, unrelated to the operation of the Metro service, among which the case of the woman who was accused of attacks on communication routes after falling some washer blades on the tracks of the Centro Médico station.
