The São Paulo Metro Line 1 – Blue stations will be closed today (20), from 4:40 am to 6:00 pm. Passengers will be served by buses and the Paese system, which will circulate free of charge from Jabaquara to Tucuruvi, in both directions, until the reopening of the stations.
According to Companhia do Metrô, the ban will take place to continue testing the new Train Signaling and Control System (CBTC), under implementation. “The system allows for better regularity in the circulation of trains, safely reducing the distance between the compositions and reducing the interval between them, thanks to the circulation of greater numbers simultaneously”, explained Metrô.
The CBTC system has already been implemented on Line 2-Green and is also being installed on Line 3-Red. Line 15-Silver was already built with this technology.
To guide passengers, the Metro will publish messages on social networks and will broadcast sound messages through the sound system of stations and trains, in addition to posting posters at stations. In case of doubt, the Metro Information Center can be contacted daily, from 5 am to midnight, by calling 0800-770-7722.
