Metro de Santiago specified that during the last quarter (August, September and October) there have been 175 station closures, affecting a total of 43.6 million people who use metropolitan transport.
From the company they indicated that there are four main reasons that explain these events: riots and/or demonstrations abroad; student actions; wild bars; and operational contingency.
four topics
in conversation with Emol, Metro detailed each of the reasons. In the first case: riots and/or demonstrations abroad; this has represented 80% of the total cases with 140 station closures in recent months.
The actions of students represent 12% of the station closures with 21 times. When going into detail, the company points out that most of these occur with the entry of students to the stations and cause disturbances inside.
The third case corresponds to the actions of baristas from soccer teams, which represent 7% with 12 station closures.
While the closures due to operational contingencies of the company itself correspond to 1%, since stations were closed only on two occasions due to that topic.
