Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), forecasts high temperatures and mostly sunny skies for this Friday due to a high pressure system and an air mass with low humidity content.
In the National District and in much of the province of Santo Domingo, the minimum temperature will range between 24 °C and 26 °C and the maximum between 33 °C and 35 Celsius.
Occasional scattered showers of short duration could affect some municipalities located in the northeast, southwest, northwest, border area and the Central Mountain Range.
However, as a result of the indirect effects of a localized trough over the eastern part of Cuba, as well as the local effects, typical of the national geography and the predominant east/southeast wind, we expect occasional scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and possible gusts of wind in some provinces located in the regions: northeast, southwest, northwest, the border area and the Central Mountain Range. Mainly: Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Santiago, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Monte Plata, Elías Piña, Pedernales, Barahona.
Due to the summer season and the incidence of Saharan dust particles, temperatures will remain hot and the feeling of being high will end up being elevated during the next few days; for this reason, it is recommended to drink enough liquids, preferably water, wear light, light-colored clothing and avoid exposure to the sun’s rays without proper protection between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
