Metallurgical activity registered a year-on-year increase of 7.9% in August and accumulated growth of 7.6% in the first eight months of the year, which represents levels above those of 2019, according to a report prepared by the Association of Metallurgical Industries (Adimra).
In this way, the activity grew 7.9% year-on-year in August and in the comparison with July 2022 it registered a rise of 0.8%.
By region, a generalized growth was observed, although the provinces of Santa Fe (+4.9%) and Córdoba (+7.8%) presented a slowdown in the pace of growth, with increases below the average.
For its part, the activity in the province of Buenos Aires (including CABA), presented an increase of 8.6% year-on-year, as a result of an increase of 9.4% in the AMBA and 7.5% in the interior of the province.
Meanwhile, the province of Mendoza (+12.9%) continued to recover its production level, according to Adimra.
At a sectoral level, there were also year-on-year increases, and the sectors that contributed the most to the rise were Bodyworks, trailers and semi-trailers (+17.3%), Medical equipment (+11.2%) and Electrical equipment and appliances (+10, 8%), registering increases above the general average.
The Foundry (+2.6%), Auto Parts (+6.2%) and Agricultural Machinery (+6.8%) sectors recorded lower growth in year-on-year terms.
Regarding the level of employment, agostó registered an increase of 2.4% compared to the same month of 2021.
Likewise, in relation to production expectations, the report states that “a slightly less optimistic view was recorded compared to the previous month”and points out that “31% of businessmen foresee an increase in their production and 25% expect a fall”.
