The Argentine team, one of the favorites in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, led by Leo Messi, landed in Doha at around 02:30 on Thursday (19:30 on Wednesday).on a flight from Abu Dhabi, confirmed AFP.

The South American team had defeated the United Arab Emirates 5-0 a few hours earlier, in a friendly played in Abu Dhabi

Messi, who scored a goal in that match, at 35, faces what may be his fifth and last World Cup, hoping to achieve the only title missing in his career.

The Paris Saint Germain player has a U-20 world champion title in his record with the Argentine team
(Holland 2005), an Olympic gold (Beijing 2008) and a Copa América, won last year in Brazil, but the long-awaited absolute world title eludes him.

Messi reached the World Cup final in the Brazil-2014 edition, when the albiceleste was defeated by Germany 1-0 at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, with a goal by Mario Gotze in extra time.

The Argentine team appears in almost all forecasts as one of the great favourites, after adding his 36th consecutive undefeated match this Wednesday, after the 5-0 victory against the United Arab Emirates.

In that duel, Messi scored his team’s fourth goal in the 44th minute, in a quick combination between Angel Di María and the captain of the Argentine team, that the PSG star sentenced with the opening to the side and a dry and cornered right hand.

With that goal, Messi got his 91st goal with his team, approaching a little more to one hundred as many as international.

Before that, Julián Álvarez (17), and Di María, who scored a double (25, 36)they had achieved the first three Argentine goals.

Already in the second part, the albiceleste team completed the score with a target from Joaquín Correa (60). The team led by Lionel Scaloni is just one game away from equaling the unbeaten record held by the Italian team, with 37 games, since 2021.

Argentina will debut in the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Tuesday, November 22 against Saudi Arabia for the first date of Group C completed by Mexico and Poland.
