The former president of Bolivia Carlos Mesa (2003-2005) said this Thursday that former president Evo Morales (2006-2019) “has exceeded all limits,” after the leader of the ruling party said in an interview with EFE that there will be “uprisings” by indigenous people and the military if is arrested.
“Evo Morales has surpassed all limits of tolerance and rationality by promoting violence against civilian citizens, police and journalists in its blockades, and suggesting that there will be uprisings and a military coup if it is forced to respond in court for the serious crimes for which it is accused,” Mesa posted on his X account.
The leader of the opposition force Comunidad Ciudadana (CC) also considered that Morales’ “desire” to “confront the Bolivians and his intention to destroy the economy are a danger to the country.”
Morales supporters block roadsespecially in the central region of Cochabamba, for 18 days to withdraw the judicial proceedings against the former president for trafficking and rape, to demand a solution to the country’s economic situation and to defend the leader’s presidential candidacy official party for the 2025 elections.
Morales stated on Wednesday in an interview with EFE that if he is arrested there will be an “uprising” against Arce by the indigenous movements and that the police and military will mutiny.
