Through his Twitter account, the former president and leader of the Citizen Community (CC), Carlos Mesa, called to prevent members of the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) from taking over the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights (Apdhb).

“The takeover of the Apdhb by the MAS government would mean the disappearance of the only legitimate and national entity that today defends human rights, and the death of one of the most relevant institutions for democracy. Bolivia must not allow this crime to be consumed, ”the ex-president tweeted.

Currently, the human rights instance is chaired by Amparo Carvajal; However, the previous week a parallel assembly was formed, made up of people related to the MAS, ignoring the first.

The one chosen to preside over the assembly related to the ruling party was Édgar Salazar, identified as a supporter of the blue party. The possession of its board of directors was held in the building of the Trade Union Federation of Mining Workers, in the Prado in La Paz.

The now head of the parallel entity previously stated that he will not take the Apdhb building by force, although he advanced the activation of legal mechanisms to recover the property, a task that he estimates will be arduous.
