In the midst of the new controversy unleashed in Bolivia by alleged acts of corruption in Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB)andThe former president and leader of the Citizen Community (CC), Carlos Mesa, He considered this Friday that the plans to exploit this resource became another example of the “ineptitude and irresponsibility” of the ruling party, the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS).

The former president added that, in 18 years of Masista administration, “We only saw inefficiency, improvisation and corruption with lithiumand now there are hidden contracts, plants that do not work and suspicious agreements.”

Therefore, “Bolivia cannot continue to admit this spectacle nor continue to see how the opportunity to exploit and market efficiently a resource that the world is demanding”, he pointed out.

On April 18, the executive president of YLB, Karla Calderónpresented a formal complaint before the Public Ministry for alleged corruption in the construction and maintenance of industrial evaporation pools.

According to the complaint, they allegedly committed the crimes of contracts harmful to the Statebreach of duty, uneconomic conduct and breach of contract due to alleged economic damage of more than Bs 425 million.

But, former President Evo Morales believes that this case was activated against several officials of his government. because he “failed” Luis Arce’s government’s plan for the direct extraction of lithium.
