Sales of Valentine’s Day merchandise have been felt since yesterday, although traders expect demand to increase further on Monday.
The information comes from a tour carried out by elCaribe through the main shopping malls, stores and businesses in the capital, where there were complaints from vendors, but also expectations that the situation will improve.
The eve of the Day of Love and Friendship mobilized more buyers in the shopping centers of Duarte Avenue, its adjacent stores and the Mercado Modelo in the capital. So much so, that customers lined up at some of these establishments to pay for “San Valentinos” products.
Igor Giráldez, sales manager of a renowned Duarte store, said that sales have risen in the last few days prior to February 14. “The sale has gone well, better than last year,” said the business expert.
In the shops of Winston Churchill, February 27, John F. Kennedy, San Vicente de Paul, La Mella and other avenues, there was also high demand, although a little less than in the aforementioned places.
In addition, the offer of flowers in stalls and improvised shops was notorious, but in the places formally dedicated to the sale of these items, greater customer demand was appreciated.
The concurrence of buyers of stuffed animals, chocolates, lollipops, perfumes, clothing, lingerie and flowers – to mention a few items – also replicated in shopping centers in sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, such as the Ensanche La Fe, Villas Agrícolas, Cristo Rey, Gualey , Guachupita, Ensanche Luperón, Simón Bolívar, Villa Juana, Herrera and Villa Mella.
The price of these items caused the complaint of some customers, who pointed out that “they are expensive” and that “everything has gone up” in price.

The entrepreneur from Los Mina, offered her stuffed animals on the sidewalks of the road with prices between 700 and 2,000 pesos.
