The Public Ministry reported that merchant Richard Gustavo Bayona Hernández (48) was sentenced to 26 years, 5 months and 10 days in prison after admitting his responsibility for committing sexual violence against his two stepdaughters, ages 10 and 12.
The event occurred on March 8, 2023 in the Luis Hurtado Higuera sector of San Félix, Bolívar state, the organization reported in a press release.
For her connection to this case, the victims’ mother, Yuratcis Velásquez, was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in prison.
According to the investigation, that day, both victims confessed to their aunt that they wanted to live with her, because their stepfather frequently mistreated and sexually abused them, while their mother ignored the situation.
Given this confession, the woman went before officials of the Bolivarian National Police to file the respective complaint.
Immediately, a police commission was formed that went to the couple’s home, where they were arrested and placed under the command of the Public Ministry.
At the beginning of the trial, the 13th Prosecutor’s Office of the second circuit of that jurisdiction ratified the accusation against Bayona Hernández for the crimes of continuous sexual violence and cruel treatment.
Once the evidence was collected by the prosecutor’s representation and after the admission of the fact, the 1st Trial Court of Puerto Ordaz issued the aforementioned sentence against the aggressor, who remains detained at the Guaiparo regional police headquarters, located in San Félix.
