The National Coordinator of the Congress of the Historical Block, Ricardo Menendezexpressed this Saturday that the city that exists today is an expression of the hegemony of capitalism, a transformation being necessary for equal conditions in accessibility.
During the third day of Great Congress of the Historical Blockthe Minister for Planning also addressed the difficulties that exist in terms of access to services, as well as mobility when moving from the location of residence to workplaces or educational centers.
“In this we have to be deeply radical, the condition of accessibility is an indicator of how well we are doing or not in the construction of a new hegemony linked to the issue of the city,” he asserted.
Menéndez spoke about the correlation between urban typologies, between risk areas and class structures in society.
“The city that exists today is a city that is an expression of the hegemony of capitalism (…) We signed up for a conception from the point of view of organization, of space, as a dynamic, as a dialectic from the point of view of the transformation of society,” he expressed.
He highlighted the importance of organization at the city level for the construction of a new hegemony, in the transformation for equal conditions.
It is important to remember that in the Great Congress of the Historical Block that takes place in the Convention Center of the Simón Bolívar park in La Carlota, Miranda state, the Concrete Action Agenda, the transformation of the State in accordance with the new times, is debated. and the goals to achieve in the long term.
