The director of the Plaza Theater in the town of Godoy Cruz in Mendoza, Diego Garreca, maintained that the incident registered on Sunday night at the door of the establishment that caused injuries to 23 people, three of them seriouslyis “an unheard of fact” and maintained that the driver of the vehicle had attended to see the play starring the actresses Soledad Silveyra and Verónica Llinás.
“This is unheard of for a theatre. What happened is that a car in reverse hit the door of the theater, and on its way caused damage to several people who were on the sidewalk,” Garreca said, speaking to channels C5N and TN.
As for the driver who was involved in the accident, he replied that “he is a person who was with a walker” and that “he had attended to see the work.”
“We don’t know exactly what happened, we are waiting for the skills but it is a very particular fact because it is a car that was parked,” he added.
The incident occurred at the end of the play headed by Soledad Silveyra and Verónica Llinás, “Dos locas de Remate”and that for reasons that are being established, the driver of a Volkswagen Virtus brand car lost control of the vehicle and ended up colliding with the people who were leaving the function.
According to a statement from the Municipality of Godoy Cruz, a total of 23 people suffered injuries of various kinds, three of them seriously, who were taken to the Central Hospital.
The municipality clarified that the car is adapted for people with disabilities and maintained that “the Police are trying to determine the causes of the accident.”
The director of the Plaza Theater stressed that the response and work of the emergency service and Civil Defense was “quick” in the face of the incident.
