With the world premiere of Pas de deux Drácula, performed by the principal dancer Yanny García and Patricia Dieguez in the role of Mina, the Camagüey Ballet celebrates this weekend the 54th anniversary of its foundation, during which several of its members received recognitions.
At the beginning of the performance of the show this Saturday that combined the manifestations and sounds of the dance that came to an end with the classic piece El Talismán, the registrar Rafael Saladrigas Ruíz was distinguished with the status of Illustrious Son of the City, and the first soloist Iradiel Rodríguez Rodríguez, with the Espejo de Paciencia, the most important recognition of culture in the territory.
The Provincial Council of the Performing Arts in Camagüey and the Vicentina de la Torre School also joined in the delivery of incentives to the teachers María de los Ángeles Valera, Elda Armengol and the dancers Susel Álvarez and Rosa María Rodríguez, according to the website of the Cadena Agramonte radio station.
In the evening, the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, the Camagüey Contemporary Ballet and the Andarte flamenco company came together on stage in the tribute, to celebrate the delivery to dance art of the maître Regina María Balaguer Sánchez.
Today the presentation continues at the Main Theater of this city.
The Camagüey Ballet, the second classical ballet company founded in Cuba, has participated in performances and festivals on various continents and for years had the direction of maestro Fernando Alonso.
