Santo Domingo, DR.- The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) put into circulation two postage stamps alluding to the importance of the Renewable Energy Theme Park and the expansion of clean energy in the Dominican Republic, as a way of demonstrating the country’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
The event, headed by Alfonso Rodríguez, Vice Minister of Innovation and Energy Transition, representing Engineer Antonio Almonte, Minister of MEM, and Erick Guzmán, Director of (INPOSDOM), was held at the facilities of the Renewable Energy Theme Park, within the framework of the celebration of the eleventh anniversary of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
Vice Minister Rodríguez said that the issuance of these stamps not only represents a recognition of the long work and achievements of the MEM and the Theme Park, but also underlines the importance of renewable energies in the sustainable development of this country, whose stamps, more than simple collector’s items, are symbols that convey a powerful message about the energy transition carried out by the current administration.
“These commemorative stamps (for the anniversary of the MEM) highlight the importance of renewable energy, a topic of great global relevance in these times of climate change and energy crisis, and demonstrate to the entire planet that the Dominican Republic has a firm decision to implement an energy transition towards renewable sources in a fair and inclusive way,” said Rodríguez.
INPOSDOM director Erick Guzmán said that these stamps, which function as a passport for postal communication, will show, wherever they are seen, that the Dominican Republic is committed to renewable energy, and that it has a minister and a president who are committed to the sustainable development of the country with the production of environmentally friendly energy.
With this initiative we demonstrate that as a nation we are committed to clean energy, and these stamps will serve to tell the world what we are doing in terms of energy to decarbonize the planet, with the significant incorporation of renewable energies,” said the director after highlighting the importance of the stamps in the dissemination of the nation’s initiatives.
Also present at the event were Miguel Díaz, Vice Minister of Mines; Kenya Mercedes, Director of the Renewable Energy Theme Park, and Alejandro Vignieri Díaz, President of the Dominican Philatelic Society.
