There are 820’738,683 soles that must allocate the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to National Jury of Elections (JNE) to guarantee the development of the electoral process of 2026, whose call must be made this year.
Meanwhile, in the next few days the sector directed by José Salardi will issue a budget allocation decree for 27 million soles to the electoral entity for the revocation consultation processes and municipal complementary elections 2025.
In recent days, Roberto Burneo, president of the JNE showed his concern that this budget is urgently assigned, also pointing out that the change of minister in the MEF had delayed the approval of the budget for the 2026 elections.
In response, the Salardi portfolio issued a statement by pointing out that so far did not receive any formal budget requirement for those elections.
Salardi and Burneo, finally met Thursday to ensure the financial resources of these electoral processes. The appointment allowed to overcome this impasse. The head of the MEF assured that the technical teams in its sector already evaluate the JNE budget report required for the electoral process 2026.
The JNE is also waiting for its budget requirement for the preparatory activities that will be carried out this year by the general elections; With this money, the elaboration of the electoral standards is ensured.
The budget of S/ 820’738.683 for the electoral processes of 2026 includes the presidential, congressional and Andean Parliament and are distributed among the three electoral agencies. Thus, the JNE LD corresponds S/ 122’801,210, to the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) S/ 610 ‘997,757 and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) 86’939,716.
