The union centrals warned today that, if in the next meeting of the National Wage Committee (CNS) employers do not present their proposal on a salary increase, they will take to the streets to achieve their objectives.
In the third meeting, held this morning, the businessmen arrived without a proposal. The trade union centrals maintain their request for a 35% increase in the minimum wage.
According to President of the National Council of Trade Union UnityRafael (Pepe) Abreu, the businessmen “presented themselves without a proposal and want to continue postponing”, but without a date.
He added that, in order to avoid a breach of the National Wage Committeethe confederations decided to place the call for the next meeting in the hands of the CNS.
“We decided that the government side act and proceed to the next calland in that call the businessmen present their proposal,” he said.
In addition, in parallel, the centrals will meet their union table to develop an action plan, in case the businessmen keep postponing the meeting.

The new president of the Employers Confederation from the Dominican Republic (Copardom), Laura Peña Izquierdo, said that they have to study the proposal because they are consultations with different types of companies.
