The Ministry of Education (minerd) reported that the holder of the portfolio, Ángel Hernández, met this Monday with the Executive Committee of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), after which he expressed that he hopes that the union will contribute to the present school year develop normally and harmoniously.
The meeting between Minister Hernández and the ADP leadership took place “in a harmonious manner” in the Ercilia Pepín room of the Ministry of Educationduring which they saw issues related to the current school year, such as school overcrowding and the effects of Hurricane Fiona on educational establishments, refers to a press release from the ministry.
“When speaking with the media after the meeting, Minister Ángel Hernández pointed out that his management at the head of the minerd It will always be open to dialogue with the ADP, in order to guarantee harmony in the classrooms and that there are no stoppages in teaching.
The president of the ADP, Eduardo Hidalgo, highlighted the harmony during the meeting, which he said was held at the request of the union, which was answered affirmatively and quickly by Minister Hernández, who was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Accreditation and Certification. Hidalgo also revealed that among the issues discussed is the use of 4% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) destined for the Educationand advocated that the Economic and Social Council evaluate it, since it understands that said allocation should be increased.
