Mariana Pajón’s husband did not compete in Paris 2024, there is talk of his retirement from BMX and a new role.
International News
In the world of BMX, Mariana Pajón is a name that resonates strongly, being one of the most applauded athletes of the Colombian delegation. However, on this occasion, there are unknowns about her husband, who did not participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This is Vincent Pelluard, a French BMX racer who became a Colombian national. He represented Colombia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the men’s BMX Racing category and finished in tenth place.
His presence at these games was surrounded by controversy, mainly due to his relationship with Mariana Pajón and his French origin. The controversy arose when Pelluard was given the spot that many considered deserved by another Colombian athlete, Diego Arboleda, who had achieved the necessary score to qualify.
For Paris 2024, Pelluard’s absence is not due to the controversies, but to his voluntary retirement from the sport in 2022. Since then, he has stopped competing professionally to dedicate himself to a new role: being a coach and technical support for his wife, Mariana Pajón.
Through an emotional message on his social networks, Pelluard explained his decision to move away from competitive BMX:
Pelluard is now a key part of Pajón’s team, having been seen on multiple occasions guiding and advising the double Olympic medallist just before her competitions. This collaboration is expected to continue in Paris 2024, where although he will not be competing, Vincent Pelluard will continue to be a present figure, but from the support line.
Thus, while Mariana Pajón continues to add successes and carry the name of Colombia high, her husband remains by her side. They recently shared a post on Instagram in which they celebrate their love after 11 years.
