Meet the congressmen who are part of the Board of Directors 2024 – 2025

Congressmen Eduardo Salhuana Cavides, Patricia Juárez, Waldemar Cerrón and Alejandro Cavero are the new representatives of the Board of Directors for the period 2024 – 2025. The election was held this Friday, July 26, and the list was supported with 95 votes in favor.

  • Eduardo Salhuana Cavides (APP): President of the Congress of the Republic
  • Patricia Juárez Gallegos (Fuerza Popular): first vice president of the Congress of the Republic
  • Waldemar Cerrón Rojas (Peru Libre): second vice president of the Congress of the Republic
  • Alejandro Cavero Alva (Avanza País): second vice president of the Congress of the Republic

The vote was held at approximately 10:20 in the morning after the swearing-in of Ariana Orué Medina as the new congresswoman following the death of legislator Enrique Wong Pujada. A total of 127 congressmen participated in the vote in person, of which 95 were in favor, four were null and void.

Eduardo Salhuana and his first message as president of Congress

“Decisions will not be made by the president, but rather jointly with the parliamentary groups. The presidency will always have its doors open to everyone”said the new president of Congress, and also rejected the questions that link him to illegal mining, for which reason he will not present any legislative initiative for the sector.
