Presidents of parent associations from 25 schools in the province of Bocas del Toro, met with the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, and her work team to address issues of infrastructure, maintenance, and appointments of teachers and administrative officials .
The Academic Vice Minister of Education, Ariel Rodríguez Gil, stated that “it is important to listen to the requests of these 25 schools in the Bocas del Toro region and, even, some of the region in which they raised situations and directed to the same point. The entire team from the Ministry of Education has assisted them, listened to their needs and provided many answers”.
He added that the schools have answers and the important thing is that we know that education is everyone’s responsibility, the parents, the community, Meduca, the teachers, but the most important thing is that this communication be maintained to have good answers.
“The Ministry of Education has always contributed the grain of sand to our educational centers, and it is what we are waiting for, for all the others regarding infrastructures, teaching and administrative appointments and that everything reaches a smooth operation and a good education,” said Emiliano. Valdés, president of parents of the El Empalme Basic School.
Alfredo Ábrego, president of the Federation of Parents of Bocas del Toro and of the Finca 61 school, said that “we come from Bocas del Toro, from 25 educational centers, looking for benefits for our future generations who are our children and we thank you to the minister who attended us, and to each one”.
The 25 presidents who participated representing the schools were: Dubori, Finca 61, Bajo la Esperanza, 41 Guabito, Nueva Esperanza, Finca 54, Finca 11, Guabito, Nueva Estrella, Teobroma, Almirante High School, Finca 66, Nance Risco, Rogelio Ibarra School, Nievecita Secondary, Sansan Drury, Loma Azul, Río Oeste Abajo, and the Finca 32, Finca 44 and El Empalme general basic education centers.
