Engineer Linda Prado, from the National Maintenance Directorate of the Ministry of Education, detailed in an interview with Radio Panama how work is going in educational centers for the start of the 2023 school year.
“Today we are serving 207 centers nationwide with minor jobs, plumbing repairs, electricity, painting, cleaning of green areas, with the support of the governorates and the personnel of the community boards for this work, we have already programmed for attend 566 more schools and we have identified 2,422 educational centers at the national level that have the basic conditions necessary for the return to school”, indicated Prado.
Regarding whether the schools that are currently undergoing repairs will be ready for the start of the school year in March, Prado said that “The 16 regional offices received an amount to be able to purchase materials and to be able to distribute to the educational centers what they were doing. The start of class is still missing, there are really many of these whose repairs do not prevent them from returning to school but who are still undergoing corrections and preventive maintenance”.
