“We call on each of the undergraduate internal doctors and doctors, as well as any other interested member of the health area, not to be silent and join in this national strike of activities on the Day of Doctors and Women Doctors, this Sunday. October 23, 2022 ”, they exposed in a statement.
On October 18, the doctor from the National Polytechnic Institute Fernando Agustín Villalobos Ramírez, who was doing his internship at the ISSSTE Regional Hospital “October 1”, was arrested for allegedly stealing health supplies.
Two days later, the institute reported that it would maintain the complaint against the doctor and that it would ratify it before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) no later than Monday, October 24.
The groups of doctors in training rejected this position of the ISSSTE and called for demonstrations against it.
“We are stigmatized, criminalized, violated and called thieves. So we’ll take October 23 as the day that male and female doctors shouted in unison: ‘Enough is enough!’ Once again, we will not allow our rights to continue to be violated, nor will studying medicine represent a risk to our integrity or our lives,” they added.
