The newspapers El Tigrense and El Tigrense received intimidating comments through social networks in their publications about the arrest of Paraqueima, while the Mariana 100.7 radio station, where the mayor hosted a program, was closed by Conatel
The National Union of Press Workers of Venezuela (SNTP) denounced that various media outlets have received threats through social networks for their news coverage of the arrest of the mayor of the Simón Rodríguez de Anzoátegui municipality, Ernesto Paraqueima.
Specifically, the media that reported having received complaints were Diario El Tigrense and Diario El Vistazo, both regional media from Anzoátegui.
“The digital media Diario El Tigrense and Diario El Vistazo have suffered intimidating attacks through their news accounts by users of social networks after the arrest of Ernesto Paraqueima,” the SNTP warned in its twitter account.

On the other hand, the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) ordered the closure of the Mariana 100.7 radio station, in which Paraqueima hosted a program called “Paraqueima from 6:00 to 9:00 am” that was broadcast Monday through Friday.

Officials from the governing body of the telecommunications sector confiscated equipment from the station, affecting all the company’s workers despite the fact that the arrest only involved Paraqueima.
Similarly, the digital media Mundo Oriental Web, owned by Paraqueima, alerted that it received a visit from a Conatel team, although no confiscation or closure of the media was reported.
This Friday morning, the visit of a Conatel team to the facilities of the digital medium @mundoorientalweb, owned by Ernesto Paraqueima, was also reported.

Parakeima was detained by officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin)complying with an order of the First Instance Court of that state for alleged crimes of promotion and incitement to hatred.
In an express action, the complaint and the arrest were executed in less than 24 hours, after comments from the mayor disparagingly criticizing a mural painted by children on the autism spectrum went viral.
