“We compete with cities like Cali, Barranquilla, Cusco (Peru) and Guayaquil (Ecuador). These awards honor the best destinations, hotels, ecosystems, airlines and, in general, the entire tourism industry (…) Medellin has just been chosen as the best destination in South America and we entered the competition for the best destination in all the world”, expressed Alejandro Arias, Secretary of Economic Development of the capital of Antioquia.
For the 29th edition of the awards, Medellín was nominated in several categories. Between them: business travel, getaway travel, events and festivals, meetings and conferences, best cultural destination and best emerging tourism destination.
“That Medellín is considered for these international awards is already an achievement. It is a sign that the work of promoting the destination is paying off and that the city is increasingly recognized for its wealth of tourism. We are sharing nominations for the South America chapter with destinations as prominent as Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago de Chile (Chile), São Paulo (Brazil), Cuzco (Peru), among others. For this reason, we invite you to leave your vote for Medellín and thus go on to compete for the awards in the world category,” said Clara Heredia Viana, Executive Director of the Bureau of Medellín and Antioquia.

Likewise, according to Time Out magazine, it was consolidated as the third best city in the world and among thehe coolest streets in the world is Vía Provenza.
“Lined with the lush foliage typical of Medellin, Vía Provenza is a short uphill walk from the bustling Parque Poblado and Parque Lleras, and is lively enough to take you from day to night. Restaurants, cafes, and bars take center stage here, all showcasing the friendly, energetic, and entrepreneurial spirit of the city. The roar of reggaeton or electronic music often wafts through the street, along with bursts of laughter, animated conversations and the sound of clinking glasses. There aren’t many places in this world where a good time is more or less guaranteed, but Vía Provenza is one of them,” the media and hospitality company wrote.
