This Friday (25), the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) announced what the awards will be for coaches of medal-winning athletes at the Paris Games, held between August and September this year. The cash prizes for the athletes had already been confirmed even before the event took place.
Coaches of athletes who won gold, whether in individual or collective events, will receive R$30,000. Silver will yield R$20,000 and bronze, R$10,000. There is also an extra prize for cases in which the team members achieved more than one podium. An additional gold results in an additional R$10,000 in prize money. In the case of one more silver, the amount will increase by R$5,000 and for each additional bronze, R$2,500.
CPB president, Mizael Conrado, highlighted the importance of coaches in Brazil’s best campaign in a Paralympic Games. There were 89 medals (a record for the country), 25 gold (another record), 26 silver and 38 bronze. The country finished fifth in the overall medal table, the best position in history.
“To recognize and celebrate the efforts of each coach, we planned this special award for all the coaches who contributed to this success. The coaches were and have been fundamental in preparing and motivating our athletes,” said Conrado, in a statement to website from CPB.
