In the O’leary square, various activities are planned for the day of the tereré, which is remembered today, and for that of the Paraguayan woman, which was commemorated yesterday.
At 9:00 in the morning, the event organized by the Municipality of Asunción began, in homage to the traditional local drink and to Paraguayan women.
In O’leary Square, visitors will find exhibition and sale of medicinal herbs and guampas. In addition, they will be able to listen a talk about the history of yerba mate.
There will also be a joke contest, rounds of tereré and a rock with the Municipal Folkloric Ensemble of Asunción and the Ballet of the Council of Seniors. The activity will last until 1:00 p.m.

The National Tereré Day was declared by law number 4,261 since 2011. For the celebration, the last Saturday of February.
Meanwhile, the commemoration of Paraguayan Women’s Day on February 24, is given in reference to the “First Assembly of American Women”, which took place in the city of Asunción, in the year 1867, in the Plaza de Mayo.
On that occasion, women from the Capital and the interior of the country they gave their jewels to collaborate with the cause of the War against the Triple Alliance.
