The Ministry of Education (MEC) launched on Wednesday (23) the National Examination of Medical Training Evaluation (ENAMED). The proposal is to establish a unified instrument for the evaluation of medical education in Brazil. The results, according to the folder, can be used even for access to medical residency programs.
The test, held annually and already with a first stage scheduled for October this year, will be conducted by the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) in collaboration with the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH), linked to MEC.
Also according to the ministry, the exam will unify the reference matrices and the evaluation instruments within the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE) for the Medical and Objective Proof of Direct Access Proof of the National Residence Exam (ENARE).
During the launch ceremony, Education Minister Camilo Santana assessed that Enamed has national strategic relevance regarding the assessment of medical education in Brazil and that its results will directly impact the Unified Health System (SUS) and the entry of new professionals in the labor market.
“We will now form a working group from the interministerial commission decree to discuss the proposal Inep is putting this proof, this assessment. Let’s call advice, class entities. We will call everyone to discuss the best format.
Health Minister Alexandre Padilha stressed the importance of having an assessment capable of assessing the student’s progress, which happens throughout the formation and not just at the end of the course. “It allows us to evaluate the progress of this student and bring to light the training institution.”
“Especially in the case of our country, and in other countries around the world, where medical education, much of it, is paid, has tuition. It has to have a look at this formative institution. Either it will continue to earn your tuition while offering poor quality in training.”
In a note, the MEC cited the following points as objectives of ENAMED:
– Evaluation of Medical Training: Verify that the graduates of medical courses have acquired the skills and skills required by the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs);
– Support for the improvement of courses: Provide inputs for the improvement of medical degrees, contributing to the quality of medical education in Brazil;
– Improvement of the selection for the Medical Residency: Unify ENADE’s evaluation and the objective test of ENARE, optimizing access to direct access medical residency;
– SUS Strengthening: Ensure that future doctors are prepared to act in a qualified manner in the public network;
– Unification and transparency: Create a standardized evaluation model, democratizing entry into direct access medical residency programs.
Understand
According to the folder, ENAMED should be organized as a unified instrument for medical education assessment in Brazil, in the form of an “umbrella” exam, based on enade application. The evaluation will meet two specific audiences:
– Medical students enrolled in ENADE, who will indicate their interest in using the test grade in the ENARE selection process;
– Doctors interested in participating in the ENARE Direct Access Medical Programs Selection Process, registered with ENAMED, in the period to be established in the Exam Notice.
Registration and Evidence
ENAMED registration is expected to be opened in July, and the exam will be mandatory for all graduating medical students. The application of the test is scheduled for October and the dissemination of individual results for December.
To use ENAMED’s results for ENARE, you must register with ENARE and pay an registration fee (except in cases of exemption provided for in the notice). Students who will do Enade and who do not intend to use the test results to join the residence are exempt from fee.
