Alcira Sosa, Deputy Minister of Education, clarified that the Educational Transformation plan does not contemplate the inclusion of gender ideology in the agenda. In this regard, she indicated that the Education Plan was designed to define strategic lines, goals, indicators and the budget required to reach the proposed objectives.
“Still today, in the 21st century, in the year 2022, in Paraguay we have 240,000 children between the ages of 12 and 18 who should be in school and are not, we have more than 279,000 illiterate adults, and that is what the plan contemplates, how much it would come out to us as a country to guarantee educational access and quality”, he stated in communication with 1000 am.
In this context, he pointed out that it is interesting that the debate on said project be installed, so that citizens can access more information and thus achieve progress in strategies to improve the educational system.
It is worth mentioning that yesterday a public hearing was held convened by the Commission for Education, Culture and Worship of the Chamber of Deputies for the presentation of the preliminary draft of the National Plan for Educational Transformation.
This call was attended by organized parents who expressed their rejection of the project due to the supposed intention of installing the issue of gender ideology in the new educational reform.
The main concern and the reason for doubt is that it exists has to do with a specific point in the document that speaks of the “rights approach”. Through this definition – included in the preliminary draft of the plan – it would be intended to include everything related to the gender approach and comprehensive sexual education for students of the Paraguayan educational system.
