Meat sector asks for free transit: “We need to work”

The Paraguayan Chamber of Meat expresses its concern about roadblocks, which prevent the distribution of products and cause enormous losses and cost overruns. They ask to be allowed to move forward.

The closures of routes and avenues are maintained in different parts of the country, despite the disposition of the National Police Command, to proceed with the clearance.

The manager of the Paraguayan Chamber of Meat, Daniel Burt, explained that, although shortages have not yet been reached, the closures are already generating large delays and economic losses.

“It generates cost overruns, waste of time, we need free transit to work,” Burt said in an interview with Radio Uno.

The demonstrators at times allow small vehicles to pass, however, the distribution of meat is moved by trucks, so a guarantee of free transit is needed.

The Senate suspended the extraordinary session in which it planned to deal with the project that creates the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund, but the benches announced that they would not participate.

The negotiations are now centered between the senators and the Ministry of Finance, in search of a formula for the direct reduction of the price of fuel, for a difference of 1,000 guaraníes.
