The livestock sector has seen some improvement in problems such as access to fuel, insecurity on farms and checkpoints on national highways, which must be maintained to continue strengthening production and therefore meat consumption.
The national production of meat is covering the demand in the country, assured the president of the National Federation of Cattlemen (Fedenaga), Luis Pardo, noting that there has been a recovery.
“Per capita meat consumption in the country has been recovering. We must understand that in the past we had 24 kg per person per year of beef, and that consumption fell to levels of 4 kg per capita per year. But that consumption has been recovering, ”he said.
He specified that the consumption of meat in the population has increased progressively up to about 10 kg per capita per year, which shows that the Venezuelan has increased the consumption of bovine meat by 6 kilos.

“Today we are in the order close to 10 kg per capita. So, that tells us of course that the national market has been recovering in some way. National production sufficiently supplies this consumption, and, of course, generate some surpluses that are used for export ”, he specified in Fedecamaras Radio.

He added that the national executive and regional authorities show concern for the sector, which is why the union is holding talks with them about updates in the regulatory framework. In addition, they aspire to be offered financing to improve production throughout the country.
